Mallorca Massanella

This is the highest climbable mountain on Mallorca, its peak is at 1,352m and there are splendid views from its summit. There is a charge for using the path of 500 pesates, a note on the gate says this is for secuirty reasons, out of the control of the farmer. To me it looks like a chance to extract money from tourists for using a public right of way but then I am a cynical old git.

The walking however is superb and well woth the 500 pesates charge. The paths are all well marked but the final push to the summit is much further than it looks and crossing the limestone pavement quite tiring. I can certainly reconmend ascending via the font as this makes a great place to stop for lunch and in hotter weather would be a good place to cool down.
